Marcia Derse Bio

Marcia Derse is a fiber artist and fabric
designer living and working on Whidbey
Island in the pacific northwest. Her work is
known for its vibrant colors and bold
painterly patterns. After a degree in
typography from the University of
Wisconsin and a full career as the owner of
a successful independent children's
bookstore Marcia became a full-time artist
showing her work in galleries, museums
and art fairs around the country. For the
last 17 years she has focused on
commercial fabric design; she currently
designs collections for Windham Fabrics.
