EVERGREEN QUILTERS

November Program
We're thrilled to have Vicki Conley joining us for a Zoom Presentation and Workshop, which will be at the United Church of Ferndale. Vicki will share her inspiring journey through the national parks and how she combines photo inspiration and imagination to make graphic style art quilts. She will share a few funny stories as well as history and facts about the parks. Vicki will also speak a little about the various techniques she uses. Turned edge machine piecing, fussy piecing and silk screening.
To learn more about Vicki, and her art, we invite you to visit her website: www.vicki-conley.com
We'd love for you, and your friends, to join us! Please note that there is a $5.00 fee for guests. Following Vicki's Zoom presentation we will have a potluck lunch. Please bring a dish of your choice to share.
After our potluck, Vicki will be leading a three-hour Zoom workshop.

Vicki's Bio:
Vicki Conley lives in the mountains of southern New Mexico. She has been a creative person all her life and has recently retired from 42 years as a studio potter. She has been a fiber artist for about 20 years and is now also exploring surface pattern design and online teaching. Her work has been exhibited nationally and internationally and was part of Quilt National 2017 and 2024. Vicki has an eye for interpreting the natural world and is best known for her original national park poster art quilts. She and her husband now travel extensively in their RV with their two dogs, always looking for the next inspiration. Vicki enjoys bold graphic landscapes as well as abstract improvisational piecing.
You may have seen Vicki’s work in Machine Quilting Unlimited, Art Quilting Studios and Art Quilt Quarterly and she has articles in recent issues of Quilting Arts Magazine. She has also been a guest on The Quilt Show with Ricky Tims and Alex Anderson demonstrating some of the techniques she uses in her national park art quilts. She recently finished taping for Quilting Arts TV series 3100. Look for it this fall on PBS. In her class you will learn all the techniques she uses in these stunning quilts.
Zoom Workshop: Bold Graphic Landscapes,
Six hour Workshop, $42.50
We are excited by the number of people who have already signed up for Vicki's workshop, and the workshop will be capped at 20 students. Yes, we will also have a waitlist. We encourage you to sign up soon!
We really appreciate your full payment when you sign up. If you signed up, and have yet to pay, please bring your payment to the September 2nd business meeting. We need your payment to secure your spot.
Vicki is giving us the choice of three patterns for the workshop, which are included in the price of the workshop: Large Rock Pattern 18" x 12", Small Simple Rock 12.5" x 10", and the Monterey scene, which has more of a Pacific Northwest vibe.

Here are Vicki's comments on selecting a pattern:
"Yes, they can choose to make the Monterey pattern, but because it is only a one day class I really recommend that they do the small rock project in class. The larger patterns are more complex and take more time to execute the various steps and better for a two-day class. Sometimes it's hard for people to get enough pieces cut out to actually try the techniques if they're doing those larger patterns but if they would construct the small rock pattern they will really learn the techniques and be able to do the larger patterns on their own. It's up to them."
Vicki will send the PDF patterns to workshop participants in early November.

Bold Graphic Landscapes
In this 1- 2-day class you will construct Vicki’s toadstool rock formation pattern in order to learn her turned edge machine piecing technique as well as the fussy piecing technique she uses on her signature skies. This is not applique. The quilt is constructed using Floriani Stitch and Wash fusible stabilizer which is left in the final piece giving great body to the quilt. It is soft and easy to sew through. You have a choice of either of these two patterns. These great techniques can be applied to your own landscapes or portrait quilts.
